Quentin Tarantino is busy doing what he does best, assembling fantasy casts full of surprises for his films. The latest project in the Tarantino world is Django Unchained, a film based on Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 movie Django.
Don Johnson is the latest addition to a cast that boasts the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson. Who is Don Johnson I hear you ask? A quick trip through TV history to the 80s is where Johnson’s best known role as James Crockett in hit detective drama Miami Vice can be found. And now he is in a big Tarantino film. Score! Johnson will play villainous plantation owner Spencer Bennett.
Christoph Waltz who won an Oscar for his role in Inglorious Basterds, is reunited with Tarantino for Django Unchained, as is Stacey Sher who collaborated with the director on Pulp Fiction. And lastly, Kurt Russell who has replaced Kevin Costner in this upcoming film, rekindles his link with Tarantino after the two worked together on Death Proof.
Major plot details are unclear as of yet, but the film follows liberated slave Django (Jamie Foxx) and bounty hunter Dr King Schultz who cross Bennett whilst in search of a bounty, but they end up being stabbed in the back by him.
It is all set up for something potentially quite bloody. But we expect nothing less of Tarantino. With a stellar cast and a top notch director at the helm, this film has great potential.
Everybody has bosses that they don’t see eye to eye with. Some people ignore them, others work hard to surpass them. But in the offices of upcoming comedy Horrible Bosses, there are those who feel that the aforementioned options are inadequate and instead opt for the excessive, but totally appropriate (under the circumstances) decision, to murder their bosses.
Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are the unhappy trio who suffer bullying at the hands of their rotten employers. Along with “Murder Consultant” Jamie Foxx, the friends come up with a plan to kill their bosses. The targets are Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston.
Slapstick moments seem to be a large part of the film and looks to be accompanied by moments of wittier comedy. If the trailers are anything to go by, the film will cause some uncontrollable laughter.
One of the more surprising elements of the movie appears to be the injection of raunchiness by none other than the sweet, innocent Jennifer Aniston.
Admittedly, Lindsay Sloane who co-stars in the film, was skeptical about Aniston’s ability to execute such steamy material, but was quickly convinced otherwise. Sloane told E Online: “I read the script and I was like, ‘There’s no way that sweet Jennifer Aniston is going to say these words and they’re going to sound sexual and aggressive’ but then it was like, ‘Whoa, she’s like a crazy diva sex machine’”.
The movie is set for release in the US on July 8 and July 22 in the UK. Packed to the brim with comedy, sexiness, and the license to kill, Horrible Bosses is certainly not just another day at the office.
